Seizing control of freedom
The president and his fellow democrats are now talking about having the ability to seize control of troubled companies, even ones that havent taken TARP money. I just cannot understand how anyone who loves thier freedom could stand for this. The democrats have in the past at least been smart enough to realize that stealing peoples freedom is best done in small increments. They know that all the "angry" people out there who hate companies like AIG will say, "Yeah, those companies need to be seized for the good of the American people." Its sad how fast people will willingly hand over their freedom in the name of safety. What they dont stop to realize is that if this ends up being allowed, there will be no reason why ANY company could not be seized by the federal government. All they would have to say is that the reason was for the "good" of everyone else. It was Ben Franklin who said, "They who can give up essential liberty for a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Where is that rugged individual spirit that brought this country so far? Why is it that when people are asked what they want from thier government, why dont they say, "to be left alone"?

Using anger as a cover
Its amazing how fast the president forgets what I tell him so quickly. He has made the comment before that we need to not get caught up in the moment, and govern out of anger etc., yet he has seized on the opportunity to put the spotlight on a measley 165 million dollar bonus, which was contractually authorized before the AIG bailout by the way, thus taking the spotlight off the MASSIVE WASTE that he and his democratic congress are ramming through not just once, but repeatedly. Why are people not outraged by the earmarks, which dwarf these little bonuses? Why no outraged by the fact that this president seems to think that throwing money at a problem will take care of it? I try to tell him, but he wont listen.

The Wizard of Oz
One of my all-time favorite movies is The Wizard of Oz. The parallels between the president and the wizard are striking. You find four characters all searching for something that they think they either do not have, or cannot aquire. You have Dorothy, who just wants to go home. Then theres the scarecrow who wants a brain, the lion who wants courage, and the tin man who wants a heart.
They go on a journey to the land of Oz. When they get there, they finally come before Oz, the great and powerful! They are stricken with fear as they ask for what they want. Then that pesky little dog goes and pulls the curtain back. The truth of the great and powerful Oz is exposed. He is simply a common, average mortal who was able to portray himself as something he was not, all with the help of a machine. As I said above, the resemblences between the wizard and the president are indeed striking. I have guided a mere mortal with a talent for emotional manipulation to say exactly the right thing at the right time. The dirty little secret is that there is really no need for me, nor is there any need for the rhetoric of Barack, the great and powerful.
Dorothy, the scarecrow, the lion and the tin man all had inside of them what they had always wanted, they just never came to the realization that they had it. While policies can definitely hinder or even stop Americans from reaching thier full potential, the possibility of success that all Americans posess has nothing to do with what the man behind the curtain says or does. The ability to be whatever it is they want to be lies within each one of us. The presidents policies should unleash individual liberty, freedom, and allow each of us to be unfettered in becoming what we want to be. He will never tell you that, because he doesnt believe it.

I must defend myself.
With all this fuss about my client and his relationship with me, I am afraid of getting lumped into taking responsibility for his snafu on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night. I am here to declare that I was not with the president last night. Because of this I had no way of telling him what to say as I almost always have for the past several months. I warned him repeatedly about going places without me, but he turned a deaf ear to my counsel. Now look what it got him. For the record, I dont believe in and do not condone making jokes about special needs people, or the special olympic games they participate in. I formally condemn my client for his highly inappropriate comments concerning the special needs community. For this reason I have started a blog to differentiate between my personal feelings, and my clients personal feelings, as he so foolishly aired last night. Please continue to check back on a regular basis, as I will likely be defending my integrity everytime he goes somewhere without me. Thank you.
